HELP THE AFGHAN CHILDREN (HTAC) is dedicated to improving the lives of children in Afghanistan through quality education and helping them become educated, healthy, productive citizens. Since 1993, we have been giving Afghanistan’s children a reason for hope and a better future.
At HTAC, we are committed to help create a vibrant Afghan educational system that helps prepare Afghan children for the challenges ahead. We believe that only through an investment in education can Afghanistan break the vicious cycle of war, poverty, poor health conditions, and civil unrest that has plagued this country for almost 30 years. That is why Help the Afghan Children exists.
HTAC knows Afghanistan. All our in-country operations staff are Afghans. We know the culture; we speak the language of the land; we have a strong understanding of the ‘pulse' of the country and what people want in terms of education; and we’re prepared to deliver programs and services to meet these emerging needs.
HTAC is innovative in delivering quality education to Afghanistan. Help the Afghan Children was one of the early leaders in implementing the (now popular concept) of model schools where Afghan children are exposed to a challenging, invigorating curriculum and quality instruction. HTAC was the first organization to introduce computers and computer education programs into the public school system and our peace and environmental education programs have been lauded by the Ministry of Education and United Nations.
HTAC is well respected by the governments of Afghanistan and the United States. Over the years, Help the Afghan Children has earned the trust, praise, and recognition of both the government ministries of Afghanistan and the U.S. government for our ability to consistently deliver on our promises.
HTAC is committed to high performance and accountability. We use measurable performance goals and scorecards to track how well we deliver our programs and services and we implement leading business tools such as continuous improvement cycles - to regularly evaluate and find ways to work better and incrementally improve our performance. HTAC has earned the Seal of Approval from the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance by meeting all 20 of their standards for charity accountability.
